MELBOURNE - Nov 25/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over southwestern Victoria will move across the remainder of the State this evening and early Thursday. A cold front will quickly follow the trough with a cold, vigorous and unstable southwesterly airflow developing during Thursday morning. A high pressure ridge will then extend eastwards from the Bight to northern Victoria during Friday before strengthening during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayGusty north to northwesterly wind in most areas at first. A cooler squally west to southwesterly change in the southwest extending eastwards tonight. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing after the change, mainly in the southwest. Raised dust over the northwest. Wind tending colder southwesterly in the west later tonight.Thursday 26 NovemberScattered showers over southern and mountain areas with local hail becoming isolated later in the day and mostly clearing. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains during the morning. The chance of thunderstorms in the early morning. Brief snow showers possible above 1500 metres. A cool to rather cold day with fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong near the coast until the afternoon.Fire Danger - High in the south. High to Very High in the north.Friday 27 NovemberFine apart from isolated showers in the south, mainly about the coast. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 28 NovemberFine apart from isolated showers near the coast. A mild to warm day, mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate westerly winds.Sunday 29 NovemberIsolated showers in the south contracting eastwards later and clearing. Fine over the northern plains.
