Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 24/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge lying across northern Victoria will collapse on Wednesday while a low pressure trough and strong cold front moves across the Bight. The trough is expected to reach southwestern Victoria in the early afternoon before pushing across central and northwestern parts of the State in the late afternoon and moving over the east at night. The cold front will follow across Victoria overnight and will be followed by a cold, vigorous and unstable southwesterly airflow on Thursday. A new high pressure ridge will then extend eastwards from the Bight to northern Victoria by Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine and mostly clear. Light to moderate northwesterly winds.Wednesday 25 NovemberA warm to hot partly cloudy day with fresh to strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds developing in the morning ahead of a cool gusty southwesterly change in the west during the afternoon, extending to central areas in the evening. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing near the change then becoming scattered in the south following the change. Raised dust over the northwest during the afternoon and evening.Fire Danger -  Severe to Extreme except in Gippsland where it is Very high.Thursday 26 NovemberScattered showers over southern and mountain areas with local hail. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains. The chance of thunderstorms in the early morning then over the coast during the day. Brief snowshowers possible above 1500 metres. A cool to rather cold day with fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong near the coast until the afternoon.Friday 27 NovemberFine apart from isolated morning showers in the south, mainly about the coast. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 28 NovemberFine apart from isolated showers near the coast and in the far east. A mild to warm day, mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate westerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
