Canaryseed Exports Ahead of Production

WINNIPEG - Nov 23/15 - SNS -- In its latest monthly review of Canadian canaryseed Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg updated forecasts for the 2015-16 marketing year.

It reports canaryseed production this year will total 118,000 MT from 331,000 acres, compared to 125,000 MT from 274,000 acres the previous marketing year.

Agriculture Canada forecasts exports will reach 160,000 MT in 2015-16, compared to 165,000 MT last season.

Agriculture Canada does not estimate domestic usage and ending stocks for canaryseed.

Agriculture Canada estimates grower bids averaged $540 MT last season and predicts they will range between $595 and $625 MT in 2015-16.


Agriculture Canada Sunflower Seed Comment

In its latest monthly review of Canadian sunflower seed Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg updated forecasts for the 2015-16 marketing year.

It reports sunflower seed production this year will total 91,000 MT from 118,000 acres, compared to 55,000 MT from 74,000 acres the previous marketing year.

Agriculture Canada forecasts exports will reach 50,000 MT in 2015-16, compared to 34,000 MT last season. Domestic use is forecast at 46,000 MT in the coming marketing year, versus 46,000 last season.

Season ending stocks are forecast to finish the 2015-16 marketing year at 30,000 MT, versus 10,000 last season and 17,000 MT the previous season.

Agriculture Canada estimates grower bids averaged $615 MT last season and predicts they will range between $540 and $570 MT in 2015-16.

Looking at the broader picture, Agriculture Canada said, "For 2015-16, the world supply of sunflower seed is estimated by the USDA at 44.1 million MT. This is marginally lower than last year, despite higher production in Russia and Ukraine.

"However, world domestic use is expected to increase marginally and, as a result, world exports are forecast to fall sharply. World carry-out stocks are expected to decrease by 15% to 2.1 million MT the lowest since 2002-03."


Argentine Popcorn Price Update

The average price of popcorn shipped from Argentina for October was U.S. $367.95 MT FOB Buenos Aires for expansion rate 38/40 packed in paper bags, according to CAMPI (Camara de Maiz Pisingallo). This average value is not normally the same as current trading levels because it relates to business done at various times in the past.

CAMPI also reports that the average trading price on new contracts reported to it by member companies during the month was $392.45 MT FOB Buenos Aires for expansion rate 38/40 packed in paper bags. It is important to note that new contracts reported to CAMPI are for shipment at various times in the future.
