Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 8/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system just east of Bass Strait will move gradually east to northeast across the Tasman Sea on Friday and Saturday. A broad low pressure trough will develop over western Victoria on Friday and remain slow moving until a weak cold front approaches the State on Saturday night. The trough will move eastwards across the remainder of the State on Sunday, closely followed by the weak front.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from the slight chance of thundery showers over the far west. Mainly clear with light northeasterly winds and coastal breezes.Friday 9 OctoberIsolated showers and thunderstorms developing in most areas but especially near the central and eastern ranges. A warm day inland grading to hot over the northwest, with generally light northerly winds. Milder along the coastal fringe with afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 10 OctoberIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon and evening, more extensive about the ranges. A warm to hot and partly cloudy day inland with light northerly winds but milder seabreezes developing on the coast.Sunday 11 OctoberScattered showers, mainly in central and eastern districts. Isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, also over the eastern half of the State. Generally warm, grading to hot in the northwest with moderate north to northwesterly winds but a cooler southwesterly wind change developing in the west during the morning then pushing into the east late in the afternoon.Monday 12 OctoberIsolated showers in the south and east with possible thunderstorms in the northeast. Dry over the northern plains. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day in the south but warmer and mostly sunny in the northwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
