MELBOURNE - Oct 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over northeastern New South Wales will extend a strong ridge along the east coast of Queensland over the next few days. The high will remain almost stationary over the next few days. Dry air and fresh winds will lead to elevated fire dangers over the interior of the state, particularly in the north. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine and clear across the majority of the state, with the slight to medium chance of showers about the northern east coastal fringe. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds, lighter winds over the .Sunday 4 OctoberFine and sunny through much of the state with only a slight to medium chance of showers about the east coast north of Mackay. Light winds over the far south, moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Fire Danger - Severe over the Northwest district, Very High over the central and southeast inland.Monday 5 OctoberThe high will remain slow moving in the western Tasman Sea, maintaining the ridge through Queensland. Fine and mostly sunny through the majority of the state as a result, with showers restricted to central and northern coastal areas.Tuesday 6 OctoberThe high will move eastwards across the Tasman Sea on Tuesday and a new high will enter the Great Australian Bight. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will across most of the state. A slight to medium chance of showers will continue about the east coast on the onshore flow, increasing to medium to high on the north tropical coast.Wednesday 7 OctoberA new high pressure system will move gradually across southeast Australia late in the new week, leading to stable conditions aloft, and this combined with relatively dry air should lead to fine and sunny conditions across most of the state. Onshore flow along the tropical east coast may continue to produce a few light showers.Thursday until SaturdayThe high pressure system will move gradually across southeast Australia, extending a firm ridge along the Queensland east coast.
