LITTLE ROCK - Sep 28/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices mostly steady. Parboiled, Second heads and Brewers rice prices mostly steady. Rice by-products: Rice Bran prices steady to 10.00 higher; Millfeed and ground hull prices mostly steady with limited available spot sale prices. According to NASS as of Sep 27, Louisiana 98%, Texas 98%, Mississippi 76% and Arkansas 72% harvest completed. Throughout the south the field yields are very uneven from farm to farm. As the rough rice futures continue upward, farmers ask prices on rough rice continue to rise with which has slowed mills procurement of rough rice. In California, medium grain milled rice prices mostly steady instances 3.00 lower. Second heads and Brewers rice prices mostly steady instances 3.00 lower. Rice by- products: Rice Bran prices steady to 10.00 higher; ground hull prices not well tested. Recent market drop instances mostly due to contacts playing catch up to current market activity and prices. Majority is hoping for fall to bring much need moisture. According to NASS as of Sep 27, 35% of the rice crop has been harvested. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Sep 25th, Nov 15 closed .255 higher at 13.27; Jan 16 closed .26 higher at 13.56. US dollar index on Friday settled at 96.26.
