Higher Chickpea Price Forecast

PANAMA CITY - Sep 26/15 - SNS -- In its latest monthly review of Canadian chickpeas Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg updated forecasts for the 2015-16 marketing year, predicting prices will be higher on average.

It reports chickpea production this year will total 90,000 MT from 133,000 acres, compared to 131,000 MT from 180,000 acres the previous marketing year.

Agriculture Canada forecasts exports will reach 70,000 MT in 2015-16, compared to 80,000 MT last season. Domestic use is forecast at 63,000 MT in the coming marketing year, versus 64,000 last season.
