Birdseed Markets Little Changed
PANAMA CITY - Sep 26/15 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were little changed in the last week, helped by relatively slow progress with Canada's canaryseed harvest.
The week started with just 19% of this year's crop in the bin and another 23.6% in swath and/or ready to straight combine. Almost 60% of the crop was standing and still ripening.
Harvest activity is advancing more quickly than last year, but remains well behind the previous five-year average of almost 26% in the bin by the third week of September. If the weather cooperates, harvest progress could quickly move closer to average.
