LITTLE ROCK - Sep 21/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long grain milled rice prices steady to .50 higher; medium grain milled rice prices mostly steady instances 3.00 lower off the bottom price in Arkansas. Parboiled prices steady; Second heads and Brewers rice prices trading uneven with Arkansas weak to .50 higher, Texas steady and Louisiana 2.00 lower. Rice by-products: Rice Bran and Millfeed and ground hull prices mostly steady with limited available spot sale prices. According to NASS as of Sep 20, Louisiana 95%, Texas 97%, Mississippi 59% and Arkansas 57% harvest completed. Throughout the south the field yields are very uneven from farm to farm. With the recent uptick in rough rice futures, bid/ask price spreads on rough rice continues to expand which has slowed farmer's rough rice sales. In California, medium grain milled rice prices remain steady to firm. Second heads and Brewers rice prices steady. Rice by-products: Rice Bran prices steady; ground hull prices not well tested. California has started to tap into the rice harvest. According to NASS as of Sep 20, 15% of the rice crop has been harvested. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Sep 18th, Nov 15 closed .055 higher at 12.95; Jan 16 closed .055 higher at 13.23; Mar 16 closed .055 higher at 13.44. US dollar index on Friday settled at 95.15.
