Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 5/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of Tasmania extends a ridge northwards across Victoria. This system will move over the Tasman Sea on Sunday as a cold front south of the Bight enters western Victoria Sunday afternoon. The front will move across central and eastern Victoria Sunday night and early on Monday as the associated low moves across Tasmania. The low will move eastwards to be located over the central Tasman Sea on Tuesday as a new high develops over the Bight. The high will be centred near southwestern Victoria by Wednesday night.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine apart from isolated light showers about the east Gippsland coast. Light winds.Sunday 6 SeptemberIsolated showers developing near the western border during the morning then spreading eastwards during the afternoon and evening. A band of rain and isolated thunderstorms then entering western districts late afternoon and central districts at night. Snow developing on the Alpine peaks late in the day above 1500 metres. A cool to mild day with north to northeasterly winds, freshening ahead of a westerly change extending from the western border late afternoon.Monday 7 SeptemberShowers, tending more isolated over the northern plains and dry over the far northwest. Snowfalls down to 1000 metres. Possible thunderstorms near the coast. A cool to cold day. Generally moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 8 SeptemberScattered showers on and south of the Divide. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains. Snowfalls own to 1300 metres, lifting to 1700 metres by evening. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Wednesday 9 SeptemberScattered showers mainly on and south of the ranges, becoming isolated during the evening. A cool day in the south, but a little milder across the north with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
