Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea while a high pressure system near Adelaida extends a ridge over Victoria. The high will move across Victoria and Tasmania during Saturday and over the Tasman Sea on Sunday as a cold front enters western Victoria late in the day. The front will move across central and eastern Victoria early on Monday as the associated low moves across Tasmania. The low will move eastwards to be located over the central Tasman Sea on Tuesday as a new high becomes established over the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of FridayMostly cloudy in the south with isolated light showers possible about exposed coastal areas., clear in the north. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.Saturday 5 SeptemberCloudy periods in the south with isolated showers or drizzle, mainly near the coast and clearing during the afternoon. Early fog and frost inland. Cool to mild with light winds, tending northerly in the west later.Sunday 6 SeptemberIsolated showers developing near the western border later in the morning, extending eastward during the day and tending more widespread from the west later. Possible late thunderstorms on the far west coast. Snow on the Alpine peaks. A cool to mild day with north to northeasterly winds, freshening ahead of a westerly change developing in the State's far west in the evening.Monday 7 SeptemberScattered showers, tending more isolated in the far northwest and contracting to southern and mountain areas by the evening. Snow down to 1100 metres. Possible hail with showers near the coast. A cold day in the south, milder in the northwest. Northwesterly winds shifting west to southwesterly across the State during the morning, fresh at times particularly in the south.Tuesday 8 SeptemberScattered showers on and south of the divide, possible showers extending to the southern plains but fine in the far north. Snow down to 1100 metres, lifting to 1400 metres by evening. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
