Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low near the New South Wales south coast is moving over the Tasman Sea, while a high pressure system in the Bight extends a ridge across Tasmania. The high will move across Victoria and Tasmania during Saturday and into the Tasman Sea on Sunday, as a cold front approaches Victoria from the west. The front is expected to move into western Victoria later on Sunday, reaching the far east of the State late on Monday. By this time a new high will have established itself in the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayGenerally cloudy. Isolated showers clearing southern and mountain areas by the evening, though remaining scattered in the far southeast. Fine in the north. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Friday 4 SeptemberMorning fog and frost patches inland. Isolated showers in East Gippsland clearing during the morning, falling as snow above 1500 metres. Isolated light showers about exposed coastal areas and adjacent ranges. Dry and partly cloudy for the remainder. A cool day with a moderating south to southwesterly wind.Saturday 5 SeptemberDry apart from isolated morning showers or drizzle near the coast. Early fog and frost inland. Cool to mild with light winds, tending northerly in the west later.Sunday 6 SeptemberIsolated showers about the far east coast. Isolated showers developing near the western border later in the morning, extending eastward during the day and tending more widespread from the west later. Possible late thunderstorms on the far west coast. A cool to mild day with north to northeasterly winds, freshening ahead of a westerly change developing in the State's far west in the evening.Monday 7 SeptemberScattered showers, tending more isolated in the far northwest and contracting to southern and mountain areas by the evening. Snow down to 1100 metres. A cold day in the south, milder in the northwest. Northwesterly winds shifting west to southwesterly across the State during the morning, fresh at times particularly in the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
