LITTLE ROCK - Aug 31/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices steady to weak. Parboiled, Second heads and Brewers rice prices steady. Rice by-products: Rice Bran and Millfeed prices mostly steady. Ground hulls lightly tested however prices mostly steady. Harvest is progressing with field yields around 10% below average. According to NASS as of Aug 30, Louisiana 84%, Texas 75%, Mississippi 22% and Arkansas 16% harvest completed. In California, medium grain milled rice prices firm. Second heads and Brewers rice prices mostly steady. Rice by-products: Rice Bran prices weak; ground hull prices not well tested. California new crop rice fields remains in mostly good condition with 90% headed out. Water continues to be coffee table discussions for both urban and rural areas. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Aug 28th, Sep 15 closed .29 higher at 11.59; Nov 15 closed .295 higher at 11.885; Jan 16 closed .295 higher at 12.18. US dollar index on Friday settled at 96.11.
