Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 29/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure complex is situated over the Tasman Sea, while a large high pressure system located southwest of Tasmania extends a ridge towards Adelaide. A low pressure centre will deepen just east of Bass Strait on Saturday evening while the complex area of low pressure will persist over the Tasman Sea through until Tuesday. Meanwhile the high will move well south of Tasmania with the ridge extending over western Victoria later Sunday and central Victoria on Monday. The ridge will weaken on Tuesday as a new low pressure system develops near Adelaide. The low will move into northern Victoria on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers over southern and mountain, more isolated over the southwest but tending to areas of rain over East Gippsland this evening. Snowfalls above 1200 metres. Dry and partly cloudy north of the Divide. Moderate south to southwest winds, fresh at times near the coast.Sunday 30 AugustMorning fog and frost patches in the northeast. Rain easing to showers over East Gippsland. Isolated showers elsewhere on and south of the Divide generally clearing during the afternoon. Dry over the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 1100 metres. A cool to cold day with light to moderate southerly winds.Monday 31 AugustMorning fog and frost patches. Isolated showers about the East Gippsland coast otherwise fine and partly cloudy day in the south. Dry and mostly sunny in the north. A cool day with light and variable winds.Tuesday 1 SeptemberMorning fog and frost in the east. Cloud increasing from the west with isolated light showers developing over western districts during the afternoon, extending further eastwards during the evening. Remaining dry over central and eastern districts. A generally cool day though milder in the northwest. Light to moderate north to northeasterly winds with afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Wednesday 2 SeptemberRain areas developing from the west, though only isolated showers over East Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the west. A cool and cloudy day with generally light east to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
