MELBOURNE - Aug 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge of high pressure extends across Victoria, however a cold front will approach southwest Victoria late Tuesday and will cross the State early on Wednesday. A weaker cold front will move across Tasmania and Bass Strait on Thursday. A large high pressure system will be located near Adelaide on Thursday, moving across Victoria on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayWidespread morning frosts, locally severe in the north. Isolated showers about the coast and northeast ranges, extending inland over western districts during the afternoon. Showers increasing over southern and mountain districts during the evening. Snow showers above 800 metres. Cool to cold with moderate westerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Wednesday 5 AugustWidespread showers over southern and eastern areas but only isolated showers over the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 800 metres. Local hail and thunder over the southeast. A cold day with moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly winds gradually extending throughout.Thursday 6 AugustScattered showers near the coast and over parts of Gippsland, but only isolated showers elsewhere and generally fine across the northern plains. A cool to cold day with generally light to moderate southwesterly winds.Friday 7 AugustEarly frost inland. Isolated showers in the south, contracting to the coast in the afternoon and evening.
