Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front over the Queensland interior will continue moving eastwards through today and will clear off the southeast coast late this evening. A high to the southwest of the continent is extending a strong ridge over central Australia. This ridge will extend across much of Queensland from Tuesday, pushing cool, dry air across most of Queensland for the remainder of the week.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine and sunny across much of the state with only a slight chance of showers about the northeast coast. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds across most eastern districts. Cool, moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds across the western districts and the interior, spreading to the southeast of the state in the evening.Tuesday 4 AugustFine, sunny and much cooler conditions are expected across most of the state. Just the slight chance of showers about the southeast and central coast. Early frosts should return to the central and southeastern interior, mainly about the Carnarvon Ranges and Granite Belt. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger -  Very High over the Northwest and Gulf Country.Wednesday 5 AugustA firm ridge of high pressure should remain over central Australia, maintaining fine, dry, cool and sunny conditions across most of Queensland. Only a slight chance of showers about the exposed southern coasts in a fresh to strong southerly flow. Widespread early frost areas over the central and southeastern interior.Thursday 6 AugustThe high will move gradually eastwards across the Great Australian Bight and maintain the firm ridge across Queensland. Fine, dry and sunny across the state except for the chance of some showers about the east coast of Cape York Peninsula as a firm ridge remains over central Australia. Widespread early frost areas over the central and southeastern interior, and possibly reaching up into the northeastern interior.Friday 7 AugustThe high is expected to settle over southeast Australia, maintaining dry and sunny conditions across most of Queensland. Showers are likely to return to the central and northern east coast as winds turn more onshore. Early frosts about the southeastern and central interior.Saturday until MondayA ridge of high pressure is expected to remain in place over southeastern Australia, maintaining dry and sunny conditions across most of Queensland. Isolated shower activity is possible along much of the east coast.
