MELBOURNE - Aug 2/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front and rain-band lie over southern NSW and are expected to move slowly further to the northeast today and weaken. A high pressure ridge will persist over SE Queensland today resulting in northwest winds and generally dry and warm conditions for northern NSW. A stronger cold front is expected to bring a southwest to southerly change to most of NSW during Monday though little rainfall is anticipated. A high pressure ridge is likely to extend across the state during Tuesday before another cold front affects the southeast Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayMedium to high chance of rain in the south and about the western slopes of the central ranges, mostly clearing later in the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms. Snow above 1800 metres on the southern ranges lowering to around the 1300 metre level during the day. Morning fog patches in the south and northeast. A generally warm and mostly sunny day in the north. Fresh and gusty west to northwesterly winds ahead of a southwest to southerly change in the west and south later.Monday 3 AugustSlight to medium chance of rain mainly over the southeast, increasing to a high chance on the southwest slopes of the ranges. Snow to about 800 metres. Mostly fine elsewhere. Cold, south to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Tuesday 4 AugustSlight to medium chance of showers on the northern half of the coastal fringe and over the southern inland. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Early frost on the slopes and ranges. Cold south to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 5 AugustMedium to high chance of showers on and west of the range over the southern half, with snow levels falling to 600 to 800 metres.
