Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 2/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak high north of New Zealand extends a weakening ridge along the east coast of Queensland. A trough will enter the southwest of the state today and move quickly eastwards across the state, clearing off the southeast coast late on Monday. A strong ridge will then extend across the state from Tuesday. Warm conditions are expected ahead of the trough but a cooler air mass will enter the southwest on Monday and extend to most parts of the state on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayFine and sunny through much of the state with just the slight to medium chance of a shower near the northeast tropical coast. A warm day through the interior and southeast districts. Moderate southeast to northeast winds about most of the east coast. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds developing over the central and southern parts of the state ahead of a fresh southwesterly change moving through the southwest of the state.Monday 3 AugustThe surface trough is expected to move rapidly east over the state, clearing off the southern coast during the evening. A relatively dry, warm airmass will accompany the trough so only the slight chance of showers in the southeast of the state with the passage of the trough. Elsewhere the slight to medium chance of showers will persist about the northeast tropical coast and the eastern Peninsula coast, with fine and mostly sunny conditions elsewhere.Tuesday 4 AugustA strong high is expected to enter the western reaches of the Great Australian Bight and to extend a strong ridge across Queensland. Fine, sunny and cooler conditions are expected across most of the state. Only a slight chance of showers about the exposed southern coasts in a fresh to strong southerly flow. Early frosts should return to the central and southeastern interior, mainly about the Carnarvon Ranges and Granite Belt.Wednesday 5 AugustA firm ridge of high pressure should remain over central Australia, maintaining fine, dry, cool and sunny conditions across most of Queensland. Only a slight chance of showers about the exposed southern coasts in a fresh to strong southerly flow. Early frosts over the central and southeastern interior.Thursday until SaturdayThe strong high is expected to move eastwards across the Great Australian Bight during the outlook period, maintaining a cool, dry airmass across the state. Early frosts about the southeastern and central interior, and possibly reaching up into the northeastern interior.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDQ10700
