Few Changes in Dry Beans

VANCOUVER - Jul 11/15 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were unchanged on the week, reflecting tight supplies on North American markets and limited trading interest.

This was reflected in the index for U.S. origin pulses, which was unchanged at 147.9. Other markets were litte changed, with the world export price index for pulses slipping 0.5 points at 184.4.

Canada's special crop index also lost 0.3 points to finish the week at 189.8. North American markets remain very quiet, with market participants unwilling to push buyers until they have a better sense of the crop and grower attitudes toward selling.

Argentina's harvest continues to make relatively good progress, with processors concerned that a higher proportion of the crop than usual will be small caliber beans. This is a bigger issue for white alubia bean markets, which are sold on a sized basis, targeting buyers who prefer large caliber product.
