MELBOURNE - Jul 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southern New South Wales will move slowly eastwards during the weekend. Meanwhile, a cold front will cross Tasmania today, just clipping the Victorian coast. The next low and associated cold front will move south of the Bight on Sunday to enter western Victoria later on Monday. The cold front and low will move through Bass Strait on Tuesday as a high pressure develops well south of Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayEarly frost patches inland, widespread over the northeast. Local morning fog patches then dry over the far north and over East Gippsland, but isolated showers developing elsewhere during the morning. Snow above 1200 metres. Cool to cold with moderate west to northwest winds, fresh at times over the ranges and near the coast.Sunday 5 JulyMorning fog and frost patches, mainly over the north and east. Isolated showers in southern areas increasing in the southwest later. Snow above 1300 metres. Cool with moderate northwesterly winds, freshening in the west and about the ranges.Monday 6 JulyScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, isolated elsewhere. Chance of a thunderstorm about the southwest coast. Snowfalls above 1300 metres. Cool to cold and a mostly cloudy day with a freshening west to northwest wind, strengthening in the south and west.Tuesday 7 JulyScattered showers in southern and eastern areas with snowfalls above 1200 metres. Isolated showers possible elsewhere.
