Weak Undertone in World Beans

VANCOUVER - May 30/15 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their easier tone through the past week as selling interest remains just ahead of the short term needs of end users.

This was reflected in the index for U.S. origin pulses, which dropped 1.7 points on the week to finish at 148.3.

By contrast, the world export price index for pulses posted a modest gain on the week on strength in Australian markets, inching up 0.4 points at 184.9. Canada's special crop index lost 0.5 points to finish the week at 187.8.

North American markets were not helped by the holiday shortened week in the United States. This also marks the official change into summer, which has many northern hemisphere traders thinking more about summer holidays .
