Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 27/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over New South Wales will move to the Tasman Sea today. A cloud band extending through the state from the northwest is expected to bring some rain to western New South Wales, reaching the Great Dividing Range later today, extending further to the northwest on Friday with isolated showers possible ahead of this feature. A weakening cold front crossing Bight waters will not affect the state this morning, but a second stronger cold front will reach southern New South Wales later today and move further east into Friday. Another ridge of high pressure should move into New South Wales on Friday and will persist on the weekend ahead of a strong cold front later on Sunday or Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of morning fog. Medium to high chance of showers or rain on the ranges and inland. Mostly fine and partly cloudy in the northeast and along the coast. Northwest to northeast winds.Friday 29 MayAreas of morning fog. Medium to high chance of rain or showers over much of the state. Mostly fine in the far southwest. Snow showers developing on the Alps above 1400 metres. West to northwest winds ahead of south to southwesterly change.Saturday 30 MayMedium to high chance of showers on the southwestern slopes of the ranges with snow showers above 1400 metres. Slight chance of showers in the north. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds.Sunday 31 MaySlight to medium chance of showers in the north and south, increasing to a high chance on the alp, falling as snow above 1500 metres. Fine and partly cloudy in central parts. West to northwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
