MELBOURNE - May 27/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will cross the State today, entering the southwest of the State early this afternoon, but not reaching the far east until tonight. A weak high pressure ridge will extend across northern Victoria on Friday then more cold fronts will generate south of the Bight, the first of which should affect southern Victoria on Saturday, followed by a vigorous cold front later on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly fog patches over the north and east. Scattered showers over the southwest and about the northeast. Isolated showers developing elsewhere, though remaining dry over east Gippsland. The chance of thunderstorms over the southwest and across north central and northeast Victoria during the afternoon and evening. A mild and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds tending westerly from the west during the afternoon and evening.Friday 29 MayIsolated showers in the east generally clearing during the morning. Scattered showers near the exposed coast with only isolated showers developing over the southwest during the afternoon. Fine over remaining areas. A cool day with light to moderate westerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Saturday 30 MayIsolated showers, mainly in the southwest and about the northeast ranges, falling as snow above 1400 metres. Dry in the north and over Gippsland. A cool day with freshening northwesterly winds.Sunday 31 MayScattered showers developing over southern and mountain areas falling as snow above 1200 metres. Isolated showers extending north of the divide in the afternoon with only the slight chance of a shower over the northwest.
