South Africa Leaves Beans Unchanged

VANCOUVER - May 26/15 - SNS -- There was no change in forecast yields and production levels for this year's dry edible bean harvest, according to the latest crop forecast from the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

The only month over month changes in the latest report were a 0.79% increase in corn production to 9.84 million metric tons (MT) and a 10.17% reduction for the estimated size of the sorghum harvest to 125,400 MT.

Average yields for dry edible beans were left at 1,185 kilograms per hectare, down almost 20% from last year. Despite a 14.7% jump in seeded area to 64,000 hectares, this year's crop is expected to be down 8% to just over 75,800 metric tons (MT).
