Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 26/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system over the New South Wales coast will be slow-moving tonight but an associated ridge over Victoria will move further eastwards. A cold front crossing the Bight tonight will weaken and slide away to the southeast on Wednesday but a second stronger cold front will cross Bight waters. This front will enter the southwest of the State on Thursday afternoon, moving rapidly across the remainder of the State at night and early Friday morning. Northwesterly winds will freshen on Saturday with another front entering the southwest of the State in the afternoon, moving to the east at night.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMainly cloudy. Isolated showers in the west. Light winds tending moderate north to northeasterly over western and central districts.Wednesday 27 MayPartly cloudy. Scattered showers developing over the southwest with isolated showers over central and eastern districts. Cool to mild with generally light to moderate northwest to northerly winds, freshening over the southwest.Thursday 28 MayScattered showers mainly about the southwest and northeast ranges. Isolated showers in the remainder. A cool day with moderate to locally fresh northwesterly tending westerly from the west later.Friday 29 MayScattered showers, mainly in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow on the alpine peaks. Cool to cold day with moderate to fresh westerly to northwesterly winds.Saturday 30 MayScattered showers, mainly in the southwest and about the northeast ranges, falling as snow above 1400 metres. Cool to cold with fresh to strong northwesterly winds, shifting southwesterly from the west later.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
