ST. JOSEPH - May 8/15 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through May 8.
WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW Grain and soybean bids traded mixed for the week. Heavy rain moved across the southern plains and corn-belt pressuring the market. Concerns over the bird flu also weighed in the corn trading floor. The lower U.S. dollar was positive news for the grains. Planting this week was slow, however, farmers made major gains last week as the weather was favorable with 55 percent of the corn crop completed. Soybeans saw a boost from good export demand. The soybean crop was 13 percent planted. Wheat saw additional declines from the bearish export sales. Quality concerns for the HRW wheat lend some support. 43 percent of the winter wheat headed out and 43 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.
