USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Apr 17/15 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Apr 17.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grains were lower with soybeans trading higher.
Soybeans saw support from higher than expect crush numbers and good weekly
export sales.  Wheat bids declined due to moisture in the southern plains.  Corn
was down slightly with 2 percent of the crop planted early in the week.  There’s
been planting delays as rain moved across the corn-belt.  The forecast continues
to call for more moisture.  The NOPA soybean crush report for March came in at
162.8 million bushels of soybeans processed which was nearly 7 million bushel
more than expected and higher than the 147 million bushels from February.
Weekly export sales of corn came in at 24.3 mb (616,700 mt), with 23.2 mb
(588,200 mt) for the 2014-2015 marketing year.  Export sales for soybeans were
listed at 19.8 mb (538,800 mt) with 11.5 mb (312,600 mt) for the 2014-2015
marketing year.  Wheat export sales came in at 5.9 mb (160,400 mt) with 1.8 mb
(47,900 mt) for the 2014-2015 marketing year.  Wheat was mostly 10-44 cents
lower.  Corn was mostly steady to 7 cents lower.  Sorghum was 2-3 cents lower.
Soybeans were 7-15 cents higher.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 43
1/4 cents lower from 5.93 1/4-6.03 1/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Soft Red
winter rail bid was not quoted.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter
terminal bid was 32 cents lower at 4.94 per bushel.  Minneapolis and Duluth US
No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 44 to 89 cents
lower from 6.60-7.05 per bushel.  Portland US Soft White wheat rail was 10 to 24
1/4 cents lower from 5.90-6.34 1/2 per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 7 cents lower from 3.78-3.83
per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 1 3/4 cents lower at 3.76
1/4 per bushel.  Omaha corn was steady to 2 cents lower from 3.71-3.74 per
bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 1 3/4 cents lower from 3.63 1/4-3.84
1/4 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was 1 3/4 cents lower from 3.69
1/4-3.75 1/4 per bushel.  Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn rail was 4 1/4 cents
higher at 3.64 1/4 per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 11 cents lower from 2.73-3.13 per bushel.  US No 3 or better rail
malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was at 6.35 per
bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not available.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 3 cents lower at 7.97 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 2 to 3 cents lower from 6.99-7.42 per bushel.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 15 1/2 cents higher at 9.52
per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 12 1/2 to 13
1/2 cents higher from 9.79-9.86 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck
soybeans were 7 1/2 cents higher at 9.81 per bushel.  Illinois 48 percent
Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 70 cents to 2.70 lower from 326.40-334.40
per ton.  Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 92 points higher
from 31.01-31.76 cents per pound.
