U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Apr 13/15 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long grain milled rice prices steady to weak.  Medium grain milled
rice prices fully steady.  Parboiled prices steady to weak.  Second heads mostly
steady, few 1.00 lower.  Brewers rice prices steady to 1.00 lower.  Rice by-products:
rice bran prices mostly 5.00 to 10.00 lower, few up to 20.00 lower; millfeed prices
steady to 5.00 lower; ground rice hulls mostly 3.00 to 5.00 lower.  New crop planting
is progressing with LA 74%, TX 42%, MS 29% and AR 21%, as of April 12.
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady.  Second heads and Brewers
rice steady to weak.  Rice by-products:  rice bran prices steady; rice hull prices
not full established.  Field prep and planting occurring earlier than normal this
year as many famers have already started the process.  Drought conditions still exist
throughout the state.  As of April 12, California shows 1% planted which is on par
with the average.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Apr 10th, May 15 closed .14 lower at 10.26;
Jly 15 closed .14 lower at 10.515; Sep 15 closed .145 lower at 10.755; Nov 15 closed
.135 lower at 10.99.  US dollar index on Friday settled at 99.34.
