MELBOURNE - Mar 30/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge extends from South Australia, across Victoria to the Tasman Sea. The ridge will weaken over South Australia on Tuesday whilst the high pressure centre over the Tasman Sea strengthens. A cold front will cross waters south of the Bight later Tuesday, reaching western and central Victoria on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The cold front will clearing the far northeast of Victoria early Thursday. The next high pressure system will move from south of the Bight to be over Tasmania on Thursday night and Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine apart from fog patches developing later in the south. Light winds and coastal seabreezes.Tuesday 31 MarchFine apart from morning fog patches, mainly in the south. A warm and mainly sunny day with light northerly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - Moderate to high.Wednesday 1 AprilMorning fog patches in Gippsland. Warm and mainly sunny with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting milder west to southwesterly over western and central areas during the afternoon and evening. A band of rain to follow in the southwest during the afternoon, extending to central areas by the evening.Thursday 2 AprilPartly cloudy with patchy rain contracting to the east and north during the day and then clearing. Mild in the south, warmer in the north. Moderate south to southeast winds, fresh at times about the coast.Friday 3 AprilScattered showers and possible thunderstorms over northern Victoria. Isolated showers developing in the south during the afternoon but mainly fine in Gippsland.
