Transportation Risk Widens Basis
VANCOUVER - Mar 14/15 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week unchanged to lower against seasonally light buying interest from packagers and importers.
Canadian canaryseed was little changed, reflecting relatively tight stocks and an unwillingness by growers to chase markets.
Problems accessing transportation for North American domestic markets continued to keep basis levels higher than normal. So far this marketing year, Canadian railways have only supplied 72% of all cars requested for shipment to the United States and Mexico.
