MELBOURNE - Mar 4/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front is expected to cross New South Wales during the day bringing vigorous south to southwesterly winds, but only a few brief showers over the southeast corner. A ridge of high pressure should extend across the state in the wake of the front. Several weaker cold fronts are expected to move through Bass Strait on Friday and Saturday with little impact on New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA few showers over the southeast corner, clearing during the day. Slight chance of late showers over the north coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout and becoming fresh to strong and gusty.Fire Danger - Very High: Greater Hunter, ACT, Northern Slopes, North Western, Upper and Lower Central West Plains, Southern Slopes and Eastern Riverina Fire Areas.Friday 6 MarchSlight to medium chance of showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh over the far southeast during the day, tending north to northeast along the coast in the afternoon.Saturday 7 MarchSlight to medium chance of showers in the northeast and on the far south coast. The chance of thunderstorms on the northern ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to northwest winds, tending north to northeast near the coast.Sunday 8 MarchMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, extending to the northern inland and central coast.
