Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 3/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge extends from the Bight to southern Victoria. A strong cold front south of the Bight will enter southwestern Victoria later today and then sweep across the rest of the State early Thursday morning, as an associated deep low passes well south of Tasmania. The next high pressure system will remain well to the west of Victoria for the time being, as further cold fronts will cross Tasmania late Thursday and during Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated morning fog patches over Gippsland. Partly cloudy in the south with isolated showers developing during the afternoon and becoming more extensive across the southwest during the evening. Fine and sunny in the north and east. A mild day in the south, warm in the north, with freshening west to southwest winds, strengthening in the southwest and near the coast towards the evening.Fire Danger -  Very high in the northeast, moderate to high over the remainder.Thursday 5 MarchScattered showers on and south of the ranges, contracting to the coast during the afternoon. Mainly fine and mostly sunny in the north. Cool with fresh and gusty southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Friday 6 MarchIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast and tending scattered near exposed coastal areas. Fine and mainly sunny in the north. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest winds, strong at first near the coast.Saturday 7 MarchIsolated showers near the coast, mainly in the southwest. Fine and mainly sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
