Logistics Still Haunting Peas

VANCOUVER - Feb 27/15 - SNS -- Logistics and transportation remained a significant concern for North American field pea exporters during the past week.

Canadian markets were relieved that a strike by CP Rail employees was quickly resolved. But, rail performance and limited fobbing capacity for bulk pea shipments remains a challenge for exporters and companies trying to develop new programs. Even so, Canada has managed to move record volumes of peas so far this marketing year.

West Coast exporters in the United States continue to struggle with gridlock at Pacific ports despite a tentative labor agreement.
