Unsupplied Cars Remains Around 10%

VANCOUVER Feb 25/15 - SNS -- Railways have not supplied over 19,000 cars ordered since the start of the 2014-15 marketing year, but shippers think the railways will only supply 10,816 after accounting for rejected cars, denied orders and railway cancellations.

Since the start of the marketing year the railways have supplied 91% of all cars ordered for movement to Vancouver and 96% of cars ordered for movement to Thunder Bay, and 95% for other bulk movement.

By contrast, the railways have only supplied 73% of all cars requested for shipment to the United States and Mexico and 53% of all cars requested for movement to transloading facilities in Vancouver. Canadian domestic markets have been better serviced, with the railways supplying 91% of all cars ordered.
