Ag Canada Sees Little Change in Birdseed Area

VANCOUVER - Feb 20/15 - SNS -- Agriculture Canada is looking for little net change in birdseed area in Canada, with canaryseed plantings predicted to rise less than expected by markets and sunflower to slip.

In its latest monthly review of Canadian canaryseed Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg issued its first supply and demand forecasts for 2015. It is important to note that its projections are neither official nor based on a survey of farmers.

It predicts canaryseed production this year will reach 145,000 MT from 309,000 acres, compared to 125,000 MT from 299,000 acres in 2014.
