Birdseeds Hold Firm Tone
VANCOUVER - Feb 13/15 - SNS -- Spot birdseed ingredient markets maintained their firm tone through the past week as offers from growers remain just behind the short term needs of the market.
Discussing markets, the U.S. based National Sunflower Association noted that prices "have been trading higher with excellent birdfood demand and strong oil values. The world oilseed market is expected to be more oil driven in 2015 rather than meal.
"Oil stocks are tighter than a year ago and there are some concerns for palm oil production this year. Price discovery for crop insurance base prices runs through the end of the month. Crop insurance projected prices are around $16.80 for oil sunflowers and $26.40 for confection sunflowers."
