Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 29/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system will remain to the east of Bass Strait today before slowly moving away to the southeast on Saturday. A strong ridge of high pressure that extends from south of the Bight to south of Tasmania will persist during today and Saturday. The ridge south of Tasmania will weaken on Sunday as a high pressure system strengthens south of the Bight. The high will remain over waters south of the Bight into early next week with a southerly airflow persisting across Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of FridayMostly cloudy over Gippsland with showers tending to areas of rain over East Gippsland with some heavy falls. Isolated showers elsewhere over southern Victoria. Dry and mostly sunny over the north. Cool to mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Fire Danger -  Generally high.Saturday 31 JanuaryScattered showers easing over East Gippsland. Isolated showers elsewhere in the south. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy in the south, mild and generally sunny in the north. Moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh along the coastal fringe.Sunday 1 FebruaryCool to mild and and partly cloudy in the south with isolated showers, scattered over the far southeast. Mild and generally sunny over the north. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, locally fresh about the coastal.Monday 2 FebruaryCool to mild and and partly cloudy in the south with isolated showers, mainly near the coast. Mild to warm and generally sunny over the north. Generally moderate to fresh southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
