Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 29/15 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure centre is deepening within a trough over the Tasman Sea, while a high lies to the southwest of Tasmania. The low is expected to shift southwest towards Tasmania then remain very slow-moving through the next few days as the high passes to its south. This pattern will maintain generally dry southerly winds over most of New South Wales, with any shower activity restricted to parts of the east. During the weekend the low is forecast to gradually weaken and move away to the east, with a new high south of the Bight building a ridge along the New South Wales coast.
Forecast for the rest of FridayThe chance of showers in the southeast, and about the Hunter and Mid-North coast later in the day. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast in the south, tending northerly in the far northeast. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Saturday 31 JanuaryThe chance of showers in the southeast, and near the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwesterly winds tending southeasterly near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Sunday 1 FebruaryThe chance of showers on and east of the ranges, more likely along the coastal fringe. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwesterly winds tending southeasterly near the coast.Monday 2 FebruaryShowers along the coast, becoming more frequent in the north, possibly extending to parts of the central west during the day. The chance of thunderstorms about the central ranges and the northern coast. Fine in the west.
