ST. JOSEPH - Jan 23/15 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Jan 23.
WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids were mixed for the week, with wheat and soybeans lower and corn trading higher. Soybeans were pressured this week from favorable weather and good growing conditions in South America as estimates are very good for a big crop. Last week the Brazilian soybean crop was increased by 1.5 mmt. Corn saw some buying interest this week, with weekly ethanol production showing increased production. Sorghum is catching some headlines with good buying demand from China. Wheat was lower on a rising U.S. dollar and weak export trade. Wheat was mostly 2-6 cents lower. Corn was 2-9 cents higher and sorghum 6-15 cents higher. Soybeans traded 14-19 cents lower. WHEAT: Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 2 3/4-6 1/4 cents lower from 6.56 3/4-6.70 3/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Soft Red winter rail bid was not quoted. St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter terminal bid was 1-5 cents higher from 5.33-5.43 per bushel. Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 4 1/2-5 1/2 cents lower from 7.05 1/2-7.25 1/2 per bushel. Portland US Soft White wheat rail was 1 cent higher to 5 cents lower from 6.21 3/4-6.45 per bushel. CORN: Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 3-7 cents higher from 3.71- 3.79 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 3 3/4-6 3/4 cents higher from 3.69 3/4-3.71 3/4 per bushel. Omaha corn was 2-9 cents higher from 3.61-3.72 per bushel. Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 3 3/4-4 3/4 cents higher from 3.65 3/4-3.87 3/4 per bushel. Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was 1 3/4-3 3/4 cents higher from 3.62 3/4-3.68 3/4 per bushel. Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn rail was 5 3/4 cents higher at 3.54 3/4 per bushel. OATS AND BARLEY: US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20 day was 9 1/4 cents higher from 3.06-3.41 per bushel. US No 3 or better rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was 10 cents lower at 7.10 per bushel. Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not available. SORGHUM: US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 6 cents higher at 6.85 per cwt. Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the farmer, fob elevator) was 6-15 cents higher from 6.85-7.38 per cwt. OILSEEDS: Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 14 1/4 cents lower at 9.21 3/4 per bushel. Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 14 1/4 cents lower from 9.74 3/4-9.91 3/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were 14 1/4-19 1/4 cents lower at 9.71 3/4 per bushel. Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 3.40 higher from 358.10-365.10 per ton.
