Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred to the west of Kangaroo Island will move east during Saturday as a broad trough of low pressure develops over western parts of the State. The trough will move across the State on Sunday and Monday as a strong high pressure system develops to the southwest of WA.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine, apart from possible thundery showers in the far northwest. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north.Sunday 21 DecemberThundery showers extending across the far west to be west of a line Oodnadatta to Port Augusta to Cape Jervis by late evening. Showers and thunderstorms most likely west of about Ernabella to Fowlers Bay, with possible heavy falls. Hot to very hot with light to moderate northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change, extending from the west and south during the day.Monday 22 DecemberA medium to high chance of showers, and possible thunderstorms, moving over western and southern parts of the State southwest of about Coober Pedy, Hawker and Keith, gradually contracting eastwards and clearing from the west. A slight chance of thundery showers over the North East Pastoral, Riverland and Murraylands districts. Hot in the northeast with moderate northwesterly winds, mild to warm elsewhere with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 23 December
Thundery showers east of about Oodnadatta to Adelaide clearing during the morning, then a medium chance of showers and thunderstorms re-developing in the northeast during the afternoon. A slight chance of showers about coastal areas in the southerly winds. Mild with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Tuesday are expected to be less than 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 10 mm over western Eyre Peninsula, the West Coast and parts of the North West Pastoral districts. Totals increasing to 10 to 40 mm with thunderstorm activity in this area.
Wednesday until FridayA slight chance of showers persisting about coastal areas. Showers and thunderstorms clearing from the northeast corner by Thursday night. Mild to warm about agricultural areas grading to warm to hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds turning southeasterly later in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Saturday.Product IDS10033
