Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 17/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will move quickly across Victoria on Thursday as a high pressure system develops over the Bight. The high will remain over Bight waters on Friday before crossing Victoria on Saturday and will reach the Tasman Sea on Sunday. A low pressure trough will extend from South Australia into western Victoria later on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayDry over the northern plains. Scattered showers developing from the west, mainly over southern and mountain districts with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Showers contracting to the coast and far eastern ranges during the evening. Moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds ahead cooler, fresh southwesterly change extending from the west in the morning to reach the east late in the day. Warm in the north and east, milder in the south.Fire Danger -  High to Very High.Friday 19 DecemberShowers in southern areas becoming isolated from the west and clearing in the afternoon. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 20 DecemberFine apart from the chance of an early shower about the coast. A mild to warm and sunny day in the north. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Sunday 21 DecemberIsolated afternoon showers in the west. Generally warm in the south, hot in the north. Light northeast to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwesterly in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
