MELBOURNE - Dec 17/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will move across the south of the State this morning. A high will develop over the Bight on Friday, then move slowly east as a broad trough develops over western parts of the State during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThundery showers over pastoral districts north of about Coober Pedy, increasing to showers and thunderstorms in the far northwest in the afternoon with local heavy falls. The slight chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, more likely with possible thunder in the South East district in the morning, contracting to Lower South East by evening. Cool to mild in the south, grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh south to southwest winds.Friday 19 DecemberFine apart from possible thundery showers in the far northwest and the slight chance of light morning shower about the Lower South East coast. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh about central and western coasts with afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 20 DecemberFine apart from possible thundery showers in the far west. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north.Sunday 21 December Thundery showers extending across the far west to be west of a line from Port Augusta to Adelaide by late evening on Sunday. Hot to very hot with light to moderate northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change, extending from the west during the day. Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the Lower South East district and northwest of about Marree, with local falls of 10 to 30 mm with thunderstorms in the far northwest. Less than 2 mm elsewhere. Monday until WednesdayPossible thundery showers extending over most districts on Monday, contracting to eastern districts on Tuesday then to the far northeast on Wednesday.
