Strong Finish For North American Beans

VANCOUVER - Dec 12/14 - SNS -- North American dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a firm note in response to the latest USDA crop production estimates.

The change was clearly reflected in the spot market price index for U.S. pulses, which gained 2.47 points on the week to close at 143.26. However, weakness in asking prices for other origins and pulses more than offset firmer U.S markets, with the result the world pulse price index closed at 178.6, down 2.1 points.

Though production is up from last year, it was trimmed from the October forecast because of lower than expected yields.
