LITTLE ROCK - Nov 24/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long grain milled rice prices steady to .50 lower; medium grain milled rice prices steady to 1.00 lower. Parboiled prices steady to .50 lower; Second heads prices steady to 1.00 lower; Brewers prices fully steady. Rice by-products: rice bran, millfeed and ground hulls prices fully steady on limited comparable sales with most contacts still shipping previously sold by-products. Louisiana Rough Rice price quotes .49 lower, however very limited trades reported at this price level. Rice mills are operating at a steady pace to supply regular customers with product. However, operating speeds slowed down to utilize a full week of milling. Contacts see nothing major happening to the market during the holidays. In California, medium and short grain rice prices steady to 2.00 lower. Second heads and Brewers prices fully steady. Rice by-products: rice bran and hull prices fully steady. Water issues continue to be a hot topic for discussion throughout the state. Contacts continue to supply regular customers with milled rice and rice by-products. Contacts see nothing major happening to the market during the holidays. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Nov 21th, Jan 15 closed .015 higher at 12.595; Mar 15 closed .01 higher at 12.855.
