Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad area of low pressure will persist through the interior of the state over the next few days maintaining hot conditions through western districts and also through the southern and central inland. A high in the Tasman Sea will maintain a weak ridge along the east Queensland coast over the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of MondayShowers and storms expected over the western districts and southern interior. Fine and mostly clear across the rest of the state, except for the moderate chance of showers about the eastern tropics and the slight chance of some morning showers about the Wide Bay and Burnett. Hot to very through much of the southern and central interior. Mostly moderate southeast to northeast winds across the state, tending northwest to southwesterly in the southwest.Fire Danger -  Very High over the central and southern interior.Tuesday 25 NovemberA broad area of low pressure over the west of the state is expected to shift a little further east, and an associated band of showers and storms should spread over the western districts and the southern interior. A slight to medium chance of showers near the east tropical coast and the southeast coast. Hot to very hot over southeast Queensland.Wednesday 26 NovemberThe broad area of low pressure is likely to move further east as a high strengthens in the Bight, producing showers and storms over most of Queensland's interior. A slight to medium chance of showers about the eastern districts. Temperatures are expected to return to near average for the majority of the state.Thursday 27 NovemberThe high is expected to slowly shift east across the Great Australian Bight, pushing dry and relatively mild air into the Channel Country. A weak ridge up Queensland's east coast will maintain a flow of moist air across the remainder of the state, and this moisture, along with a surface trough, should produce a broad band of showers and storms stretching from the northwest of the state down to the southeast quarter. A slight to medium chance of showers about the majority of the east coast and over the Peninsula and tropical interior.Friday until SundayThe high is expected to move into the Tasman Sea, strengthening a ridge extending up the east coast, and pushing the showers and storms gradually inland during the weekend. A slight to medium chance of showers about the majority of the east coast and over the tropical interior.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDQ10700
