MELBOURNE - Nov 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge extends across Victoria ahead of a low pressure trough and cold front which will rapidly cross the State on Monday. Another cold front will move across Victoria on Tuesday night then a high pressure system over the Bight will drift slowly eastwards to be near Tasmania by Wednesday night. A high pressure ridge will extend through Bass Strait and into the Tasman Sea on Thursday as the parent high remains near Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast then clearing during the evening. Isolated showers developing in the southwest later in the evening. Light westerly winds with weakening seabreezes near the coast.Monday 24 NovemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, tending to rain in the northeast from the afternoon. Mild to warm northerly winds ahead of a cooler, fresh southwesterly change extending from the west early in the morning to reach eastern areas during the afternoon.Fire Danger - High to very high in the northwest.Tuesday 25 NovemberIsolated showers in the south but dry north of the divide. A cool to mild day with moderate southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast.Wednesday 26 NovemberIsolated showers in the south, mainly during the morning. Dry in the north. Cool to mild in the south, warmer in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Thursday 27 NovemberIsolated showers in the east, clearing.
