Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure trough preceded by hot west to northwesterly winds is moving across southwestern New South Wales, bringing unsettled conditions to most districts. The trough will weaken and stall over the northeast of the state later Sunday. On Monday a stronger cold front with milder southerly winds behind will move through the west and southeast of the state during the day before weakening into a trough over the far northeast on Tuesday. Behind the front a high pressure system will move very slowly towards Tasmania strengthening a ridge throughout the state and generally stabilising conditions particularly over the inland. This high is expected to move over the southwestern Tasman Sea during Friday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayA medium chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the northern ranges and adjacent west slopes. The slight change of showers and thunderstorms in the remainder apart from the far southwest and northeast coast where it will be partly cloudy. A hot to very hot day in central and northern districts. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the northeast with a southerly change extending through the remainder.Fire Danger -  Severe for the Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, Lower Central West Plains, Southern Slopes and Central Ranges. Very High for the Far North Coast, North Coast, Illawarra/Shoalhaven, Monaro Alpine, Southern Ranges, New England, Northern Slopes, North Western, Upper Central West Plains and Eastern Riverina.Monday 24 NovemberPartly cloudy in the northeast. The slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the remainder, clearing in the southwest later. Hot in the north. Mainly northeast to northwesterly winds, turning milder southerly in the west during the day.Tuesday 25 NovemberMedium chance of showers in the northeast and on the southern half of the coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere.. Milder southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Wednesday 26 NovemberMedium chance of showers in the northeast and on the southern half of the coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
