LITTLE ROCK - Nov 17/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.
National Weekly Rice Summary (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California) Domestic Trend In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices fully steady. Parboiled prices steady, however a weak undertone was noted. Second heads and Brewers prices fully steady. Rice by-products: rice bran prices mostly steady, However Texas prices trending 10.00-30.00 higher; Millfeed and ground hulls prices steady on limited comparable sales. Louisiana Rough Rice price quotes fully steady, however no trades reported at this price level as the bid/ask price spread is too wide. Rice mills are operating at a steady pace to supply regular customers with product, however, operating speeds slowed down to utilize a full week of milling. In California, medium and short grain rice prices mostly steady. Second heads and Brewers prices steady to 1.00 higher. Rice by-products: rice bran and hull prices steady. Water issues continue to be a hot topic for discussion throughout the state. Contacts continue to supply regular customers with milled rice and rice by-products. CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Nov 14th, Nov 14 closed .015 higher at 11.73; Jan 15 closed .03 higher at 11.97; Mar 15 closed .03 higher at 12.24. US dollar index on Friday settled at 87.53.
