U.S. Faces Tight Year in Lentils

VANCOUVER - Nov 15/14 - SNS -- North American lentil markets were unaffected by the latest crop production estimates, with attention mainly focused on meeting outstanding sales commitments and emerging demand.

In its latest crop report, the USDA said lentil output in the United States is down 35% at just under 148,000 metric tons (MT).

Combined with a small carry-over from the previous marketing year, available supplies of lentils are down 39% at almost 153,000 MT.
