WASHINGTON - Oct 29/14 - SNS -- Rough rice stocks in California totaled 7.54 million hundredweight (cwt or 100 pound units) as of October 1, up 158% from last year, according to the USDA.
California rough rice stocks were down 31% from the August 1, 2014 level. Medium grain varities accounted for 89% of the total rough rice, while long and short varieties combined account for 11% of the total rough rice stocks.
California milled rice stocks in all positions totaled 1.11 million cwt, down 22% from the August 1, 2014 level and 8% below a year ago.
